Winner of Melton Times / Ragdale Hall 'Make it Happen' award 2006 & 2007

Event medical cover from a recognised organisation is an essential requirement for public events under Health and Safety requirements, and is normally a condition of your public indemnity insurance. The new Health and Safety Act 2008 makes this even more important that correct medical cover is available.

Belvoir First Aid is a local charity based in the Vale of Belvoir and surrounding villages which offers free event first aid cover to local fetes, events and other meetings where the event is too small for the main first aid agencies. This has proved to be very successful with events such as this year's Stathern Festival, the 10k race, Eastwell fete, Garthorpe races and other small events being covered by our volunteers. We also covered the VIKING CHALLENGE on October 7th 2007, and again last year on 5th October 2008,  and the Beaverfest triathlons. We have been booked for the British Heart Foundation cycle events in the Vale, and have been reconfirmed for the Beaverfest Triathlon next May.

The ethos behind BFA is that we, as volunteers with first aid certifications, can give something back to our communities through the provision of a local service, in this case first aid at local events. We also assist in planning and risk assessment of the event, and provide a written report after. We only ask that a donation be made to cover our costs and insurance. We can also co-ordinate first aid training to local village groups through partnerships with HSE approved First Aid training organisations.

The cost of running the charoty in 2009 was over £14,000 and all of this is raised through public donation or fund raising schemes like the 10k. Your support is very grateful.

We need more volunteers. If you have a valid First Aid certification, or are a Nurse, Paramedic, Ambulance Technician or Doctor, come and talk to us.

To contact us, or make a donation, please do so through the web site contact form or by calling 07967 699612.

If you are not familiar with our charity and your first contact with us is online: We would be pleased to hear from you! Please let us know what your needs and questions are, we will be more than happy to help.

Belvoir First Aid is a member of the Association of First Aiders. It is an independent charity and not associated with Red Cross or similar international groups.
